Summary

The investment seeks to provide high current income, as well as capital growth when consistent with high current income. The fund invests in a portfolio of higher-yielding, lower-rated fixed-income securities issued by foreign and U.S. companies. It normally invests at least 80% of its net assets in high-yield bonds. The fund may invest in fixed-income securities of any maturity, but generally invests in securities having an initial maturity of more than one year. Up to 25% of the fund's total assets may be invested in foreign securities, which may include securities of issuers in emerging market countries.
