The investment seeks a high level of current income exempt from federal income tax. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its assets in investment-grade municipal securities that are exempt from federal income tax. It invests in municipal securities issued by the governments of states, their political subdivisions, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, commonwealths and possessions or by their agencies, instrumentalities and authorities, if the interest paid on the security is not subject to federal personal income tax. The fund seeks to maintain a dollar-weighted effective portfolio maturity of five years or less.
