The investment seeks total return. The fund invests primarily in a diversified portfolio of large-cap and mid-cap equity securities traded in U.S. markets and by writing covered call options on a substantial portion of the fund's long equity portfolio. The portfolio managers focus on companies with regular quarterly dividends and with market capitalizations of $4 billion or more at the time of acquisition. The fund places primary emphasis on the generation of income. Option premiums and dividend income are expected to constitute a significant portion of total return. It invests at least 80% of its assets in equity securities.
