The investment seeks a high level of current income exempt from federal income taxes. The fund invests normally at least 80% of assets in obligations the income from which is exempt from federal income tax, that is, municipal obligations. Its portfolio consists primarily of investment grade long-term municipal bonds. The fund may invest up to 15% of its investable assets in "below-investment grade" or high-yield municipal debt obligations, commonly known as junk bonds.
