The investment seeks a high level of income that is exempt from regular federal income tax as is consistent with relative protection of capital. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets plus any borrowings for investment purposes in municipal bonds and other municipal obligations that pay interest that is exempt from both regular federal income tax and federal alternative minimum tax. It normally will maintain a dollar-weighted average portfolio maturity of between one and five years, but may vary outside that range from time to time, including due to market conditions or if deemed appropriate for temporary defensive purposes.
