The investment seeks high current income exempt from federal income tax and New York State and New York City personal income taxes that is consistent with low risk to principal; total return is a secondary goal. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets in securities of municipal issuers that provide interest income that is exempt from federal income tax and New York State and New York City personal income taxes; however, it may invest without limit in municipal securities the interest on which may be an item of tax preference for purposes of the federal alternative minimum tax ("Tax Preference Item"). The fund is non-diversified.
