Summary

The investment seeks to provide as high a level of income exempt from federal income tax and New York State and New York City personal income taxes as is consistent with its investment policies and prudent investment management while seeking preservation of shareholders' capital. The fund invests mainly in New York municipal securities that pay interest that, in the opinion of counsel to the issuer of each security, is exempt from federal and New York personal income taxes. It invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus borrowings for investment purposes) in tax-exempt securities, including securities subject to alternative minimum tax.
