The fund invests in a portfolio consisting of U.S. Treasury securities and U.S. government agency securities with maturities of not less than one year and not more than three years, and related derivative contracts. It buys and sells portfolio securities based primarily on its market outlook and analysis of how securities may perform under different market conditions. The fund may also seek to increase its income by lending its portfolio securities. It may also invest in bonds issued by banks and guaranteed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
