The investment seeks the highest current income consistent with low risk to principal and liquidity, its secondary objective is to enhance its total return through capital appreciation when market factors indicate that capital appreciation may be available without significant risk to principal. Under normal market conditions, the fund invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus borrowing for investment purposes) in a diversified portfolio of bonds that are limited maturity debt instruments. The dollar-weighted average maturity of the Portfolio generally will not exceed five years and in periods of rising interest rates may be shortened to one year or less.
