The fund invests under normal circumstances at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in fixed-income securities. The principal types of fixed income securities purchased by the fund are investment grade quality: corporate bonds of varying maturities, U.S. Treasury and agency bonds and notes, mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities and preferred stocks. It will attempt to maintain a dollar-weighted average portfolio maturity and duration of less than three years.
