This article in my humble opinion would be useless to someone who wanted to make money in this market, and had the "seed" money necessary, and the intestinal fortitude to "jump in".
I speak from experience I have netted as much as $12,000.00 in one day.
I keep a $25,000.00 balance in my Internet Brokerage, and I can daytrade, jump in and jump out in the same day with no penalties.
I have been doing it with great success, I have my two special "Inverse ETFs" and I watch the ticker, and when the Indu. starts going down and I am pretty sure it is going to be one of those disaster days, I jump in with about 4 option contracts on my favorite Inverse ETF for the day. I have seen it move up or down as much as 40 points in one day.
If you are faint hearted and cannot make a quick decision, stay out, because you might miss an opportunity to sell out, and take a loss.
When I get ready to jump out, I have my sell order in with a much higher price, so I know it is sitting there waiting for me. Then about 20 minutes before the closing bell, I change the selling price this only takes seconds, and I wilL have my fill and be out of the market in 5 minutes or less.
I love these ETFs, I will try to use them even when the good markets return. Someone who puts these "indexes" together knows what they are doing and they are the guys that I always wanted to emulate, I knew they were out there, they have finally given me an opportunity.
If you do try this, don't blame me if you lose, you almost need to be able to check your ticker every 5 or 10 minutes,
Don't write me and ask for the symbols. You can find them on the net, just like I did.
Use this information if you choose, but do not write to me no matter whether you win or lose. AS THEY ALWAYS SAY, THERE IS RISK INVOLVED!
My apologies to the writer of the article, he knows how to do it but most likely knows how fast things move in the situations I outlined. Listen to him, he is trying to protect you from loss. I just wanted you to know that there are great rewards, but also great risks.

I've seen better infomercials on late-night cable television.
A vast body of credible research in peer reviewed journals has consistently demonstrated that technical analysis and market timing are bunk.
This article falls far short of the standards I would expect from a national newsmagazine.
