I may be 85, but I would like to study the brain--if there is a next time around I would like be prepared to study research of the brain-- I don't find much at my library to teach me anything, and of course I know I may not live to get a job(counting age)- I just feel you have to keep your brain busy.

I am 55 and lost my job over a year ago. I've been living off unemployment but would like to go back to college and get a degree. I would like to know of a college with small classes and not a high school environment. I need to know of some that the tuition is free. Somewhere that the professors are willing to help you or tutoring is available since its been some time since I have been in school. A school where they show you how to study for tests and best ways to study for homework. A school that still cares for anyone interested in getting a higher learning regardless of thier age. Im interested in the medical field since I've worked in that field for more than 15 years. Also inteterested in social services,or child care services. I am currently living in the Columbus, Ohio area, but will be willing to move to the state of Florida if any of these services are available. I need a career where I can support myself without any type of assistance from state or government. I might be getting older but I am not giving up. I have a lot of ambition and would like to be able to put that to good use so I can one day give back something worthwhile to this world, not jus existing works for me.

if there is a problem let there be an answer
there is a solution let the scroll speak
let there be an answer we climb ever upward
without any confusion until we reach the peak
there is a solution without any confusion
if only we think to slow us down
the water is there we slip off our sandals
if only we drink and throw down our crown

Anecdotal information makes for a good read. However, a list of specific colleges
with phone numbers would be helpful.

I am 77 yrs. old, handicapped and would like to take a course, free of charge, to see if my brain can retain the information I get.

This is great. I graduated in 2010, with a BA in Art History and wanted to continue my education. I was 60 when I graduated. Thanks for this article! SRA.

Look at Osher Life Long Learning Institute or OLLI. Bernard Osher has a foundation to establish senior (over 50 classes) on campus. With a certain number of members he donates a fairly large sum to help. I am on the board of one Olli in California and it is without a doubt such a bright spot in both students at CSU Channel Islands and
the senior members. The students are often in attendance and get to hear stories from folks that worked in Kennedy's Administration, sent astronauts to the moon, worked in all aspects of post WWII. Both Silent and Boomer Generation from. A living library in a computer age.

I sm inerested in dental asssistant program/certification programs. I live in Birminghamm Al, but thinking about Foley, Al. I am 62 years old, and have a degree in Dental Hygiene but haven't practiced for 20 years. That keeps me from being able to get a job in my field. Everything has changed and I would need alot of hands on experience. My husband of 44 years met his old highschool classmate and is divorcing me with very little. I have to find someway of producing some income. Is there a senior financial program that anyone knows about that might be of some hepp getting my foot in the door?
