Used to work at Zappos. Left on own terms. Michelle is right.

@William....I hear this word HATER a lot lately. So you HATE Michelle because she is a hater? Hmmm.......something is not exactly adding up here. People like you who put labels on other people need to get a hobby....or a life! The sad thing is you probably won't leave your life of labeling and you will actually print one up for me.....it's okay, it won't stick!!!

@michelle...you are a hater and im sure you were harrased in high school. please stay home and/or get a job at wal-mart where they really treat their employees like kings!. i hate you. and people like you. jk jk. but seriously...whats your deal?

Well...I am a current employee at zappos and their is a large misperception of what actually goes on behind closed doors.

Tony Heish is never in the office and does not make contact with 90% of the employees, and only is around when media is present.

Life Coach at Zappos...Jumped ship at the end of 2009...they scrambled and took whomever they could find and put that person in the place....noone ever has contact with the woman who is the "life coach"

Ask anything..does not exist becuase they never get back to anyone who writes it...

Culture book...you are required to write positive things within the book and if you fail to, people magically disappear at zappos.

People are never asked if they enjoy their co workers...

There are plenty of complaints to HR for unprofessionalism and harrasment by directors to their subordinates, ironically they turn a blind eye. If you dont adhere to a drunk pass of a superior, it is most likely a good way to get terminated.

Unfortunately the economy is that bad and with a mortgage, I have no choice to play along to whatever is going on. I am certain if many of my co workers can vent without having their lively hood placed in jeopardy, Zappos would be tarnished with truth.

Tony Hsieh is a remarkable guy. He seems like an introvert, somebody whose mind is constantly processing multiple ideas and figuring out innovative solutions that would further the Zappos empire. And yet, at the end of it all, this man weighs his achievements on 2 parameters - values and culture. I like the way his leadership style is analysed here - http://www.brandpilgrim.com/2010/08/valuation-of-values.html

really enjoyed the article on Zappos. Probably exists somewhere already, but this very satisfied Zappos/Amazon customer would appreciate a similar, objective history of the Amazon enterprise.
