Some of these cost sound to good to be true! Are they in fact true or overstated and not mentioning the downside.

Not sure if it is as easy as it appears to retire abroad. Most countries need you to have some sort of working or citizenship visa, which is hard to get unless you are a working professional.

That being said every so often you would have to return to your own country.

We are American citizens and we can live overseas on our social security than we can here in America. Does that seem right to anyone? We the Americans are (were) the back bone of this country so we were brought up to believe. We give our lives and our lives of our family to this country. What do we get back? There is no freedom anymore and our country does not take care of their own. So what are seniors going to do to live (not just exist) in America where they were born?

As a 74 yr. old gentleman living right near Boston Icould adjust to this kind of living very easiley thank you very much.Every year the cold does a number on my arthritis and I love to walk but find walking in the building just isnt the same as going out side .love the warm weather and spending time sitting in the sun and walking the beaches with out being covered in snow

I tried to retire to Acapulco, Mexico, but the earthquakes, hurricanes and the recent killings have made me stay in America. I still help my friends there, since I know they are hurt by the lack of tourists. I wish the drug dealers would just stop the killings, and help the poor. I am doing great, and I was going to move to Las Vegas, but reading what is happening there, I just as well stay in my comfortable Illinois apartment. I could get cheaper rent in a senior complez, but I love living with people of all ages and ethnic groups. I will always love Acapulco, Kalisperll, and Las Vegas.

do we have a social group from the usa, so we can see how it is ahead of time before we move there to Panama

I work in the gaming industry in Las Vegas, and my company just cut me back to two days per week. This was unannounced, unexpected, and a severe setback for me. My social security notice says right now, I could retire with an income of $1200 per month. If I continue working till age 70, I can receive $2200 per month. If I can stay physically fit, I would continue working to that age just for the money. I don't want to grow so old and feeble that I can't enjoy the rest of my life. At present, I am in great shape. Worrying doesn't help. I just want to feel I still have a bright future and think outside the box.
