6 Secrets to a Healthy Retirement

I'm retiring at 55 because my husband is 72 and we want to spend time traveling and just hanging out (sometimes) before he's too old to care/be able to do so.

I have been planning for this for quite some time and we are now in a position where we don't have to earn as much as we currently do because we don't have a lot of debt.

I'm looking forward to sleeping in a bit longer than I currently do, relaxing, seeing my grandchildren more often, and simply "not working 8 to 5" five days a week.

I highly recommend it.........but it takes a lot of planning and self control about spending in the NOW to save for the THEN.

I'm about to enter the THEN and can't wait!!

I retired sort of early at 52. Now, at 55, I can honestly say it has been better than I imagined. Admittedly, I work a little part-time as a performing musician and private music teacher for a little extra income and activity. But the real benefit is health and time with my spouse. The day I retired, I slept all night, and canceled my chiropractor appointment for the next day--have not had neck issues nor sleep issues since. Best of all, I discovered that I still really like hanging out with my wife after too many years of being away from home.

At 46 years old early retirement sounds good to me.........since I've been working since I was 12 years old for allowance and what not:) As we get older, our children no longer need our financial support, college is paid for, and/or our children are responsible for making their own way in life, and they inherit everything that we have worked for, so our children are well taken care of even after we 'go on' to a better place......So now I figure is the best time to enjoy life, and enjoying life does NOT include sleep deprivation, work stress, trials and tribulations at work/daily combat zone, daily traffic congestion, managing a staff of people and all of their trials and tribulations, defending agency against any/all lawsuits, and/or fighting my peers for that 'promotion' over and over again for every raise in salary......Yes I am one for early retirement, vacation, leisure time, and/or seeing the world during daylight hours.....:)
