my husbands company made some bad decisions and lost our retirement. We were paying for kids in college and had a mortgage etc and not much extra to put away for retirement. We are here now and will basically have nothing more than Social Security. Any suggestions besides keep on working?

After 45 yrs. in this work force, with most of it hands on, I want to retire and enjoy whatever is left. At 63 my body tells me it is time. You have addresed most all of the questions about retiring except the one big one that I face. THE FEAR OF WHAT IF! Major medical problems---Major money problems---Things that I just canot control in retirement that I could from the work force-- Fantastic credit--Help of all kinds for just about any problem---. Most of this would go away in retirement. Although I can afford to retire now I feel fear in doing so. Any thought?
