I live and rent in the south of Brazil ( Santa Catarina) for 250 US $ month, fully furnished 2 bedroom beach house.. in a small fishing village. Food is cheap and the fish is free if you have the time to get out the rod.

Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia; no doubt about it.

I had been to many countries; comparatively speaking Malaysia is the best.

No talk about medical costs, very important to aging boomers who are likely to be the bulk of customers.

Retire in Medellin, Colombia ?

Advice: "DON'T BOTHER"

You really got this right. People with $1200-$1400 or so a mo. can have a good life in Chiang Mai....The lesson is go East, and not live in the West....Cuenca is not for a person who has lived in Asia...I was in Cuenca in the 80's when I worked in Peru, and planned to retire in Ecuador, but when I went back to Cuenca last year, it had really changed, and not for the better, so my life will be in SEA.....Even China, if they had reasonable resident Visa requirements..Good report. Thanks...

I wonder where they speak English, have decent health care, and have cutural activities? We have been to Belise and the cultural aspect seems to be missing there.

I have been to Panama several times and hope to retire there. Over the years planning for retirement, I have read Ms. Peddicord's writings about Panama but feel she does a disservice by only pointing out the pros, without any details about the cons. And there are some.

I am so of losing my writings or having them denied because of inaccurate info about my e-mail and password. It is driving me nuts. I can't communicate on the internet like I used to. I hate these stupid requirements, and copying crazy letters that don't let me in anyway. It is yuky. And I am starting to hate the net...I won't blog or write, I guess. I wrote for several newspapers and radio and TV, but I'm not good enough here...

I wonder why you didn't mention the Philippines. I live here comfortably on $1000. There are many expats here. Check it out before you publish again.
