Why You Can Afford to Eat at Home

Your column on eating out raises another question about food: is it possible to eat organically and not spend a fortune? People complain fairly consistently about the higher cost of organic produce and meats, and use that concern as a reason not to transition to a greener lifestyle. Interestingly, these same people often don't think twice about buying bottled water or some other product they believe is "green" but in fact actually degrades the environment. A better understanding about how to spend money as well as what to spend it on would help a lot of people become better consumers as well as "greener" citizens.
