Inside Brent Kessel's 'Wanting Mind'

I loved the journal entries. The book has a lot to mention about understanding our financial archetype, or style/makeup/thoughts toward money. The issue would lie not with the thoughts that race through his mind about what he should buy, but rather, what he does with those thoughts. It's not about the money. It is about understanding and ordering our relationship with it.

I don't really think that people want to hear about they have to ignore their impulses. They want to learn how they can make lots of money to do and buy the things they want (in moderation). I think this guy sounds money-fearful. Definitely unsettling. It doesn't make me want to read the book.

I guess the way to get ahead is to make others go behind

I dunno, it sounds like it IS about the money to Mr. Kessel. Maybe it's unfair to glean too much from a diary, which typically isn't written for others to read; OTOH, presumably Kessel knew to what use the information would be put. $1100 chairs, paintings, a car with a $3,000/yr maintenance bill, and hand-painted greeting cards, after all, send a pretty clear message, as does his thinking, "Well, I could go for it seeing he's buying."

I don't need any advice from this guy!
