With gas prices at an all time high - who doe sthe government think they are fooling? This money will be used for the gas tank. There won't be any left for anything else.

I'd rather not have a rebate and have lower gas prices instead. The savings overall would be much higher and the economy would do better. People are staying home more and spending the same - internet spending has increased since the gas hike because people can't afford to start up the hummers and such they bought when money was plentiful and image was everything. Stupid people.

I declared "Personal Bankruptcy" in 2007 due to credit card interest rates at 32%. Attorneys fees were ~$1200.00, so the "Single Male" check for $600.00 pays me back ~50.00%.

I plan to buy a quality self propelled lawn mower ~$300.00.

It will go directly to my checking account for gas money, and maybe half for entertainment.

we've decided to actually spend our money on home improvements. we were devasted by a flood in august of 2007 and are still fixing things. we are going to put up a shed and do some exterior work so we can put our house up for sale.

I was going to put it towards credit cards but I need new glasses and have no health insurance. Well I will try to find some glasses that I can purchase with such a small amount of money.

I wish the government would combine the rebates to hire better teachers and provide universal health care instead of sending us each a check. Then we'd have a better education to make more money in the first place, and we wouldn't need the money for surprise health issues like that dental one. Too bad our goverment combines investments in Iraq, and divides them at home.

I think a lot of people will be using it that way, Veronica -- you're definitely not alone there.

I had been planning on using that 300 dollars to put in my savings, but given my recent dental problems (which were not of my own doing, believe me, I have been flossing and brushing since my original root canal after I lost a filling 2 years ago) that rebate will probably be going to put food on my table and keep the lights on.
