This economy is brutal. I am a stay-at-home mom. A month after we found out baby no. 2 is on the way (YEAH!), my husband got down-sized when his company had to cut costs. It's been a few months and he's had multiple interviews, but the job search is going at a snail's pace. It's a little unnerving. To help in the job search, my husband set up the website: hiremydaddy.com.

Part of me is glad I'm still in school for this economic correction. My friends who are working have gone in to work one day only to find out there would be massive layoffs, luckily they survived the first round. I just hope the situation improves by the time I graduate next year....

That sounds like a smart decision to me, if you can manage it -- I've actually been hearing from quite a few people recently who have said they save half or close to have of their after-tax income.

I'm a bit puzzled by the implication that the people living the most expensive lifestyles are the least worried about the economy - that the people who *look* rich *are* rich. I don't think that's really true anymore.

My answer: I can't help but be a little bit shaken whenever I see my 403(b) take a big drop, but I'll be just fine. I happily live on less than half my income, so prices could more than double without hurting me much.
