It would make one wonder, what have we learned from the past that will help us today. It would seem nothing!

Each one of us is responsible for our own path, the writing is on the wall.

I am Roger C. Elliott and I constantly look for web sites that love to reminsce about the good ole days and the not-so-good times. I would like to share that I have written a new book about growing up in small communities in Southern Indiana and Eastern Kentucky. If you like to reminisce I believe you will like the book.

you may read more about it and myself at my author's web site:

Or you may order it at Amazon.com. Just choose books and write in Roger C. Elliott and you may scroll down to read the back cover of the book.

My mother was born in Lost Creek Kentucky in 1923. The amazing stories she could tell.As a kid i didnt pay much attention to her stories, all i was worried about was that new pair of gym shoes every one else had at school , and when was i getting mine.looking back at her stories and the stories like Florences.

I am so amazed how they survived , place a piece of leather in a childs shoe now and youll go to jail for child neglect.Shoot they were lucky to have shoes at all then.

Now days all kids want to do is sit around and complain about what they dont have , start fights with their parents, stomp out of the house in the hundred dollar gym shoes ,ripped up jeans (rips costing extra)jump on the new 4 wheeler sitting outside and take off.If children now days had to go through a tenth of what there grandparents did , the would die.

we as a society are simply just spoiled rotten.Email , text messages , name brand this , designer that. Its just amazing what weve become. What would happen it it all just stopped.

Computers , phones , cars , electricity , indoor plumbing ,

What would we do??? We would perish , and for no other reason just our greed , and laziness .

So be thankfull for what you have. Yes you've worked hard to get it.but always respect the ones that worked so much harder than we could ever, just to have the very essentials to survive.

you never know, with what our nation has become, the big man up stair may just get feed up and give us a reality check.

Thank you Florence I truly enjoyed your story .
