Years ago, there were not as many resources for using coupons. Also, in the past few years, Catalinas made couponing more worth your while.

I'll give a couple of examples:

Free using printable coupons:

Printable coupon for Challenge butter - .75

Bashas sale: Challenge butter = .88

Bashas doubles to the cost of the item.

Challenge butter = free

Target

Online Target coupon for $1 off Pop Tarts - Fiber Cinnamon

Manufacturing coupon online for .55

Target takes both

Pop tarts = free

Printable Jimmy dean coupon from Target = $1 off breakfast item

Mfg coupon for Jimmy Dean in 10/4 newspaper = $1 off D-lights

Final cost .44-.77

Saved $2.

Catalina deals

Pillsbury rolls = Buy 3, get 2 dollars back, Buy 4 get 2.50 or buy 5 get 3 dollars on your next order Catalina coupon.

Pillsbury rolls on sale at Albertsons - 1.50 each.

Printable coupons $1 off of 2.

Buy 4 = $6

Use coupons = $4

Get catalina - final cost is $1.50 for 4.

I have enjoyed your site and also crawl the web for free things and deals and coupons. Saving money is my goal. In today's economy we all have to cut back where we can. I have started a site for free and cheap stuff. www.dimestorebudget.com I have been working at finding my friends and fellow readers the best free stuff since 04 on another yahoo list of mine called Just free Stuff. Because my JFS site did not allow for "cheap" stuff or product feedback I felt it was time to start the new site, Dime Store Budget so that I could help my readers more with deals that are truly money saving and advice on how to cut spending or avoid bad deals and to give advice on those products that really work.

I have never tried Google reader but I will now be trying that site thanks to your advice! Keep up the great job.

I tried saving coupons once several years ago, without any succss

I found that a coupon maybe for 50 cents off one brand I could get another brand jsut as good cheaper than the on with the coupon. I have heard of people using coupons but for myself never could see a bargin in it.What am I missing?

To the poster of "great if" There are thousands of coupons that have nothing to do with fast food, junk etc. As a matter of fact, today there is one for the all natural Kashi meals. I think you are being negative. Lets hope that Karma doesn't play a cruel joke on you and end up making you one of the people out there that actually NEEDS to eat junk food in order to survive. Be grateful for small things and don't knock those that are trying to do something positive. Sorry, but your post was very annoying and extremely shortsighted. Just my two cent, and sorry I don't offer a coupon for it.

I have seen many people say lately that coupons only are to be found on "junk food" like the person who commented earlier.

I want to say that I don't believe they are just looking in the right places. There are coupons to be found on just about all products from yogurt, organic and natural foods, Lean Cuisine, Weight Watchers and yes some of the not so nutritious items as well. Then there is coupons on toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, pet food etc...

Also we are not just talking groceries but there are printable coupons to be found for places like Bath and Body Works, DSW, Macy's, Victoria's Secret and so many more retailers.

My point is there are coupons for everything and for everyone's needs.

I run a site called Coupon Dad:

http://www.coupondad.net

We are a web site that posts all these different coupons, we have thousands of listings. Ms. Nuzzo's site is awesome and can really teach you how to save a lot of money but with her site being a lot of education and information it is hard for her to list every deal out there. She picks the most popular deals to posts. This is where blogs like hers and my site work well with each other. She educates and gets people all the information they need to learn the process. My site than can list all the deals available for all products.

You use those kinds of products and actually eat at places like McDonald's. I scrolled through about a dozen posts and found nothing useful, except the deal on toothbrushes (I don't buy that every week). So yeah, great for the junk food crowd.
