I AM A DRY CLEANER WITH 20 YEARS EXPERIENCE & I AM FEMALE!! IT DOES TAKE TIME TO PRESS MOST WOMENS BLOUSES BECAUSE OF MATERIAL & CUT, ETC. SHIRT MACHINE MANUFACTURERS WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO CREATE MACHINES CAPABLE OF ADAPTING TO THE MYRIADS OF STYLE VARATIONS IN WOMEN'S FASHION. FASHION DESIGNERS WANT TO SELL THEIR PRODUCTS WHICH DO REQUIRE BEING PRESSED BY HAND. MOST MENS SHIRTS CAN BE PRESSED ON SHIRT MACHINES, "BUCKS", WITH LITTLE OR NO TOUCH UP. I AM NOT A FASHION DESIGNER, I AM A DRY CLEANER WHO HAPPENS TO DESIGN BLOUSES THAT FIT ON THE SHIRT MACHINE, "BUCK", SO THAT WE WOMEN CAN FEEL THE SMOOTH, CRISP TEXTURE AND LOOK GREAT. WE CAN FINALLY SAVE $$ AND TIME BY TAKING OUR ARMLOAD OF BLOUSES TO THE CLEANERS. MY 100% OXFORD BLOUSES HAVE A RED LADY BUG ON THE BOTTOM FRONT PANEL; ALSO HAS A WARNING LABEL INSIDE THAT READS "WARNING: ALL LAUNDRIES AND DRY CLEANERS!COMMERCIAL LAUNDERING IS RECOMMENDED FOR THIS LADYSBLOUSE. THIS LADYSBLOUSE IS MANUFACTURED TO FIT YOUR SHIRT MACHINE! DO NOT CHARGE MORE. YOU MAY LOSE YOUR CUSTOMER." GO TO MY WEBSITE AND READ! LADYSBLOUSE.COM., ENVYFIT I HAVE WORKED HARD TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR WOMEN AND DRY CLEANERS! MY NAME IS KAREN LAUBER-SMITH, LAUBERHILL FASHIONS/ENVYFIT BLOUSES THE EUROPEAN CLEANERS IN CHARLOTTE & MATTHEWS, NC

The name of my company is Lauberhill Fashions/Envyfit Blouses. I am the first Dry Cleaner to take the time to remedy the problem of women paying more for blouses at dry cleaners. Women can now pay the same low price as men. Feel and look as good in their beautifully pressed blouses!!!! Saves time and $$$! Check out ladysblouse.com; envyfit.com. The story is there! I own The European Cleaners in Charlotte, NC.

It is my observation that women's clothing tends to be made out of more delicate stuff than mens. Is my observation incorrect? My clothes are cotton or wool (and most of it wrinkle resistant). My wife and my female coworkers have silk and cashmere and other material that is easily ruined. Perhaps the dry cleaners are pricing according to risk.

I share the frustration. It's just too expensive for us to dry clean both of our shirts/slacks...so I take care of my own clothes by washing and ironing them. I am always a bit jealous of my husband's crisp lines and smooth texture. But, alas...it's just too expensive.

This has caused me to wonder the same thing: why hasn't technology been invented to help clean women's clothing?! And I really don't think it's because of sexist motives, per say. I think the industry is more than happy to rake in the extra money.

Sadie is accurate with her analysis of today's economy and the dry cleaning industry being strapped for cash. Who isn't?! BUT. Women have been in the workplace wearing suits for years! Not just this year. Not just last. The whole women's pant-suit thing goes back to the 70's or 80's, right?!
