You need only claim the event of your life to make yourself yours. When you truly possess all you have been and done, which may take some time, you are fierce with reality.

Join this class action lawsuit against Wachovia Bank, N.A.

Read a letter from the U.S. Congress dated May 27, 2009 against overdraft fees and a threat to the banks about reforming these fees:

Read the FDIC report issued on November 2008 that uncovers a “re-sequencing scam” Wachovia and other banks implemented to rob consumers of their money through overdraft fees:

My bank card was stolen. I reported it stolen. They took my whole $900 disability check in overdraft fee's. Now we're bailing them out. Who's gonna bail me out, when I live under a bridge?

Very interesting!!! I have never overdrafted, but know people who have. it would be great o have the option to make that a non-option!!

I have found myself "victim" of overdraft fees on several occasions and it was because of one reason and one reason only: I didn't take the steps to make sure I didn't overdraft in the first place.

Balance your checkbook and check your balance online daily. Honestly people it isn't that hard to learn what is going on with your money.

What this article fails to tell you adequately is that with ANY bank account that has overdraft protection you have the right to opt out. That is exactly what I do. If I do not have the funds in my account, my card is declined. This can be done with any account.

The debit card in your wallet is like an electronic check that you carry around with you. Within the past decade when checks were still widely used the same overdraft charges existed for the paper form of the card you carry in your wallet/purse. The only difference now is that it has become easier for those who don't manage their money correctly to overdraft in their accounts. If you cannot handle the responsibility of balancing a checkbook honestly you need to reevaluate your ability to live on your own.

I understand this is the year of populist rage against any financial organization and even agree with some of the arguments, but something as simple as balancing a checkbook and opting out of overdraft protection are two easy that you can take right now to make sure you never have the problem of overdraft fees.
