Nadya Suleman, Jon & Kate: Making Money on TV

I find this so ridiculous. What about the Mccaughy family? We don't see them on reality tv...and they had 7 children plus 1 other one....so I don't buy Jon and Kate "needing" the show to pay for having a large family. They need the show to pay for their exessively lavish lifestyle and to feed some inner need of Kate's to have all eyes on her.

It is unfair to the children, no matter what their parents say.

It is wrong.

My opinion is that J&K+8 and the proposed Octomom show are voyeurism to the extreme and no better than pornography. Why would anyone tune in to a show to "peep" at these peoples' lives? An earlier poster said that viewers are enablers, and I agree with that wholeheartedly. Having raised (almost done) 4 myself, and knowing all the trials, tribulations, and emotions involved, I just can't imagine any motivation at all for wanting to watch someone else's travails. It is pathetic for them to agree to, and pathetic for anyone who watches.

Octomom can ink as many deals as she wants but if they can't get a U.S. station to purchase the show or to find sponsors, it is a no go. I don't see Brits who are frugal and sensible wasting time and money watching Octomom.

Octomom appeared on U.S. tv whining that she was the only mother of multiples who didn't get free diapers, formula, food, big vans, etc. She had this litter because she thought that it would be her free ride, well she is in for a surprise.

I e-mailed all the regular baby sponsors, Huggies, Luvs, Gerbers, Johnson and Johnson and told them they would be boycotted if they sponsored Octomom and they all e-mailed me back that they weren't going to give her anything.

TLC e-mailed me back saying that they were not planning on having a show for her.

My parents raised 6 kids (all born naturally and with humane gaps between births) and survived on one income. So Jon and Kate have eight? Surely by now they have made enough money slogging their kids on tv, selling books, autographed pics, merchandise that they can now .. maybe get a life and a JOB?

We may not have had all the bells and whistles the Gosselins have but we did not have cameras in our faces constantly or mom documenting our first poops in the potty on national television either. Nor were very cruel labels associated with our names or faces filmed to be enjoyed for forever more. Ouch.

Pull the plug 'Learning Channel". Your greed is just too overwhelming.

Both TLC and the Gosselins are equally complicit in the exploitation issue. Rather than do what is morally right - putting the childrens' best interests first - both choose greed. From all reports, the Gosselins have made more than enough money to live comfortably for a very long time. It appears that Jon wishes to withdraw from the show but Kate wants to continue for her own selfish reasons. It is no longer about the children. As for TLC, I have lost ALL respect for them. The recent statements put out by their spokesperson were blatant lies. Anyone who has watched this show would know that they cannot possibly film 40 episodes in a six month period by filming only 4 hours a week. I am ecstatic that Pennslyvania's Department of Labor has launched an investigation into the working conditions for these minor children. TLC and the Gosselin parents should be ashamed of themselves!

Gee.. Maybe Jon and Kate and the Octomom should try to emulate what normal people with large families do...mainly, haul themselves out there into the real world to support their children. Why are they any different from you and me and our families with three, four, or five children? These people who are only famous for their fertility drug- induced "replication" should not be celebrated or abetted. At the very least, the Octomom, as pathetic as she is, doesn't claim to be doing what she did in the name of "Christianity." Jon and Kate, on the other hand, sought out fertility treatment while in their reproductive prime because Kate was "too impatient" to do it the old fashioned way - one baby at a time. Be careful what you wish for. That they should receive any attention whatsoever, let alone the chance to "star" in a reality television show as a reward for their stupidity, is indicative of our modern mentality. That we continue to watch the train-wreck of their family lives and their disintegrating/non-existent relationships is just pathetic. Jon and Kate plus Eight should be hosted on the Animal Planet Network, along with Suleman and her litter. Because the truth is that normal people don't choose to give birth to half a dozen children and more at a time. I don't care how you interpret "normal." These people are over the top and they whelp their babies and react just about the same as cats and dogs when their puppies/kitties are no longer convenient. Enough, already. We can only hope that this isn't the start of a trend, because the birth of multiples is a tremendous risk and a huge financial drain on our society.

I think paparazzi should stop following them.Because would you like someone to follow you every day of your whole life? They should mind there our business and leave them alone.I've cryed about it and even thought I don't know what it's like being followed I'm sick of tired of paparazzi following them.It makes me really mad.I wish I could do something but I can't I'm only a kid.I think the paparazzi should stop and look at the maginze and read what they did they just made there life more difficult and there really mad too.

Why is TLC exploiting families with more airtime as problems get worse ? TLC should be providing more security and taking a long hard look at it's own morals. Allowing private time for hurting families and offer counseling. The networks are dangeling carrots (money) to people un-accustomed to a lavish lifestyle. Who doesn't want more ? Who wouldn't sign up for the oppurtunity to give to their family ? It's TLC's fault for pushing them so hard.

Tracy in Maine of ME 6:54PM June 01, 2009

hmpf....I will not watch the show, or any other show on the network that airs it. Nor will I buy from any company that sponsors the show by running commercials!

ENOUGH!!!!

Robin of IL 5:26PM June 01, 2009

I say we ask people no beg the TV audience not to tune in to these shows so that they will disappear and we never have to see Kate or Nadya again
