This was a great article on why renters nationwide need to consider insurance. Although it's true most renters don't take take the time to research or compare policies, many consumers who carry auto insurance can purchase renters insurance from their existing insurer in order to qualify for a multi-policy discount. This discount can often save the renter the entire monthly cost of the renters policy sometimes up to 10%

The paramount reason that informed individuals are hesitant to pay for renters insurance is that they know that their claims are unlikely to be honored.

If a subscriber falsely inflates his claim after an incident, he can be prosecuted for fraud. When companies, like Allstate insurance, institute formal organizational guidelines requiring their agents to falsely deflate the value of a claim, there is no punishment.

Insurance companies are despicable.

I am an insurance agent who is a big believer of renters insurance. I go around apartmet complexes, with the support of apartment managers, to explain the importance of renters insurance -- but it's so hard to make them understand as renters just do not see a need for it. It's extremely frustrating that they only know of its value after a loss.

I had renters insurance when I lived in an apartment. I gave me peace of mind to know that my things were covered in an event of some sort of accident.
