The idea that one person feels she has ownership of a relatively common word is ridiculous. The fact that she requested such a trademark is laughable; that is was granted is downright scary. This needs to change.

I think McNeal is very self-righteous to think that she "owns" that word. And I agree with Mrs. Michah's remark that she is doing herself a great disservice.

McNeal will likely not win unless she has a corporation that actually owns that trademark. The "right" bloc on the 5/4 court likes corporations that claim dubious ownership stakes in things, concepts and marks. Individuals? Probably not so much.
