As more and more families treat their pets like part of the family, the decision to budget a little extra money (less than half the cost of a bag of dog food typically) for pet health insurance is a sound decision. I wouldn't trust financial experts regarding what is considered humane or not humane... seems to be outside their range of expertise. Newer companies, like Healthy Paws Pet Insurance (gohealthypaws.com), are providing a high quality plan at very affordable rates.
