Spending time with other breastfeeding moms, taking a breastfeeding class, reading a book, and educating yourself are all low-cost ways of preparing for breastfeeding. WIC provides breastfeeding support and peer-counselors for low-income families. On Twitter, support can be found via the #breastfeeding #bfing #bfcafe and #bfchat tags. There are support groups (such as The Leaky Boob) on Facebook. However, some women really *do* need the support of a specialist, and an IBCLC is the gold standard for breastfeeding support.
It's questionable to feature tips on saving money for breastfeeding moms provided by someone who makes money selling things to breastfeeding moms. She's not exactly an unbiased source. (The $150 pump on the market? Made by her company. The #bfchat on Twitter? Hosted by her company.) There's a huge market for breastfeeding products, and her job depends on that.

I had a $30 pump (And I worked fullTime),some bras (but you need bras anyway just a different style), some pads, and milk storagebags. Just used regular clothes and pillows.

You don't need one of the $400 breast pumps to pump hands-free. Just get a sports bra (not super tight) and cut 2 one-inch slits in it. It's free or cheap that way. Just needed to point that out...
