This is kind of scary because I was looking at how to get off my in-laws dole. I think they thought they were helping but they actually intervened when my husband I could possibly have solved our own problesm

Good point! I included that emotional stat too just because I thought it was also interesting and shows how close 20-something still are with their parents ... we never grow up! But like you mention, maybe 50 percent isn't that high, considering emotional support is free...

I'm slightly amused that emotional support is lumped up with financial support. I mean, I'm not a parent....but aren't parents sources of emotional support. Is it really all that astounding that over 50% provide emotional support?

As far as a move out date is concerned, it works when the adult child is stably employed. I know I'm an extremely outlier, but while I was employed at the same agency for almost a year and a half, I wasn't stably employed. My hours were so erratic getting on top of my finances was next to impossible.
