It is very hard to take Kimberly Palmer seriously. Anyone who admits to consuming reality TV with a passion should be getting intervention not giving other people advice.

Two of the four items listed are not free. It is hard to take Kimberly Palmer serious as she a viewer of "The Real Housewives of (who cares)" and "16 & Pregnant".

Lightning struck our satellite dish (Direct tv) just about 5 PM at the ending of the ANTHONY TRIAL. What a time! Direct can't send someone, or won't, until Monday. We are lost in this trial and right at such a crucial time of evidence presentation!

I have been doing all of the above I think but I can't find LIVE OR DELAYED HLN

AKA HEADLINE NEWS channel, which carries the trial from 1-5 PM and on Sat. mornings. Could not get truTv either.

Anyone know anything to help us watch headline at least for the w/e?

Thank goodness we have a couple of Netflix movies on hand and maybe hubby will clear his list of honeydo's while I work on the laundry. Maybe even a tan lol.

These are more great ideas... I especially like the idea of looking for non-network shows online. Thanks for sharing!

How about watching independent content (content not created by major TV networks can be just as good - if not better, in fact lots of TV shows like Always Sunny in Philadelphia started off as independent content and got picked up by major networks)!

Try http://www.freetubetv.net for live tv channels from independent broadcasters around the world.

Another option are software services like the TVDevo website . It offers a pretty wide range of TV shows and some live tv. Updates to the Show Guide on each program restart. For full length movies, it's not the best choice, but the tv shows and on-demand broadcasts are good.

I would rather use http://TweTV.com , there are always all the best avaible online.

shortly before I was slated to move out of NYC my years old 13 inch tv broke. I basically shifted my entire viewing schedule by one day....because MOST of the TV shows I watched were available online for free within 24 hours, usually on the networks website. I'd watch my Monday shows on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday, etc etc...even keeping them in the same time slot.

We didn't have cable to begin with just internet.

However, if you are a diehard sports fan....cutting cable may not be an option. Sure if you live in the city, you can go around the block to the local bar to at least catch the local team...but then by the time you factor in how much you spend on drinks and food, you might be better off getting cable.

PS: I did get a new TV for free off of freecycle, and it was a 27incher CRT. Heavy but much bigger than my old TV from freshman yr.
