Business Insider also published your article Kim - there are alot more comments there for you to respond too.

And guess what? Chances are excellent that had you made even a minor effort to actually contact Amazon, you would have been given a free refurbished Kindle - even out of warranty. Many people have, even as long as 3 months out of warranty.

If Amazons' website is too much for you or your husband to handle, why not try a websearch? You could have easily found both a phone number and the simple solution posted online.

I know much of your comments are false & it makes it hard to believe other things you say that I might not know as much about.

Cheers!

You never even spoke with Kindle Customer Service. Silly.

Thanks for these comments on Amazon's customer service - however, if your warranty is expired as ours was, than you don't have as much luck. But I'm glad to know it worked well for you!

That big yellow "Contact" us button leads you to a page where you can ask Amazon to call you (anywhere in the U.S., and in some other parts of the world).

If you had tried it, you'd see they call back within about 2 minutes.

You can also contact Kindle Support (this number is on the Kindle help pages).

A human picks up, trained in things Kindle, within half a minute.

That is 24/7.

Even living abroad, I've had the exact opposite experience. I've been a kindle owner since 2008. When my kindle 2 had a patch of screen that went back, I called the Amazon number and had them immediately offer to replace kindle. I had 30 days to return broken kindle and they provided shipping label.

I recently had issues with my kindle 3 and the lighted case, which no longer worked -- something was wrong with the kindle connection. This time I contacted CSR via IM, and she again agreed to replace the kindle.

As for kindle freezing, if you simple "google frozen kindle 3," you will find a myriad of solutions.

I have had a 3 Kindles now and wouldn't own anything else. I have found Amazon's customer support to fantastic. There is a phone number under Kindle Support and I have called. They have replaced my Kindle when it was out of warranty and once when my husband put his elbow on my screen and broke it. I have never had anything but good customer service from them.

Have been an Amazon customer for years. I bought a Kindle for my husband, my daugher and finally one for me. Tha 3rd Kindle quit working within 30 days. It was an absolute nightmare gettting them to approve anew one. The new one came and had trouble 3 days later. Nothing they could do other than take my chances with "refurbished" one. They called it an "extensively tested" model.
