Much of the anger seems to be coming from Gen X

The situation is similar in the UK. Just this week older generations have called 'foul play' to government attempts to rebalance their over-generous benefits. Old age lobby groups came out en masse to cry 'age-ism' yet are too quick to label UK young people 'hoodies', 'feral' and 'yobs'. Our report entitled 'http://www.if.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/The_Poor_Perception_of_Younger_People_in_the_UK_17Aug3.pdf showed just how down on younger generations our nation is.

Intergenerational conflict may well rise if older generations across the western world refuse to accept that their actions and material expectations are harming their children's and grandchildren's futures.

Our work at the Intergenerational Foundation (www.if.org.uk) researches these areas.

When there isn't enough to go around, people start to compete for what's left. Millenials hate seniors for their Social Security that they pay for but will never get.

first of all I don't buy into everyone is happy that son/daughter is home. It is a myth because how we live is changing once again due to economics. The impact of lack of jobs, decreased wages, and struggling economy has hit young and old alike. Everyone has bought into the myth that a degree automatically means that you get a great job right out of college. It doesn't. Working while you go to school is necessary, if you don't work you volunteer, if you don't volunteer you intern, if you don't intern you better damn side be able to show me that you know what a dollar means and how you can output, save me money, make me money, see me/my business in a new innovative way.

The way we now have to sell ourselves, not to mention all the social media that you have to do to let potential employers know you are there, plus having friends to recommend you to said employer isn't fair, but nor is the world fair. We are all about to learn how to live a life far less materialistic, tv driven, and isolated. Change in happening, we are in the middle of the next wave, I just wish that I knew what this wave will bring.
