Since I read more than a year ago that some airlines have stopped supplying magazines on their flights to save fuel, I have been concerned with reducing weight in our existing cars.

I have imperical data that a gallon of gas at 10 below 0 weighs 5.5 pounds in Denver. At that same gas station, in the sun, 1 gallon of gas at 85 degrees weighs 4.5 pounds because the flowrate meters that measure gallons dispensed are above ground. Even if my scales were not calibrated to the bureau of standards, the trend is there that indicates that since gas is not temperature compensated as it is in Canada, gas is heaver in winter than summer and we get more weight per gallon in winter, and consequently better gas mileage.

If you have 20 gallon tank, and being frugal, only purcahse 10 gallons and save 50 pounds of dead fuel weight and get better gas mileage.
