GOP Veepstakes: The Probable McCain Shortlist

August 7, 2008 RSS Feed Print

I feel like half my time each day is spent speculating about whom John McCain will pick for veep. These are the three names that keep coming up in my chat with folks who should know a little something: Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Rob Portman. No Sarah Palin. No Fred Smith. No Meg Whitman. Take it for what it's worth.

My favorite line in that little blog was "No Sarah Palin." Ha. Ha. Ha.

It would be a huge mistake for Senator McCain to pick a running mate who would take votes away from him and there are a lot of pro-lifers out there.

Mark Sanford, Bobby Jindal, Rep. Eric Cantor and Rob Portman, Rep. John Kasich for VP would be great pro-lifers, and conservative in many other ways, as well, but Duncan Hunter would be my favorite (and might help McCain in California).
