Something like 95% of the problems described here as well as 95% of the problems blacks experience living in America could be eliminated via one single simple act: Outlaw and ban the demoKKKrat party. ,

This crisis is not just about "liberal" affordable housing policies, which in any case, was championed by everyone. Rather it's about the over-leveraging of the consumer and unwinding of this debt bubble. In addition, the poor regulatory environment that existed in financial services did not help either. So let's stop blaming one side or the other with ignorant comments that serve no purpose.

This crisis is not just about affordable housing which by the way was championed by everyone not just "liberals". The bigger issue with this crisis is the over-leveraging of the US consumer and the poor regulatory environment for financial services. So let's not make this a blame-game of one side or the other. It's broad enough to blame everyone across the political spectrum.

The demographics render this comparison useless. Japan's aging population is having a big impact.

We don't need to determine whether Japan or America in the 30's is a better comp. The solutions are clear: Stop trying the failed policies of liberals that think you can suspend the laws of economics to create crack pipe dreams like "affordable housing".

Well, let's see. Interest rates for depositors like Japan at near zero for a long time. A stock market doing nothing for 14 years. Ain't that gonna be a pretty picture for America's baby boom retirees?

Perhaps we had better have another idea.

American interest rates held at a level that compensates for OUR inflation and OUR deficits would be a good idea. You say we now have no inflation with this downturn?

Better take another look at education and medical costs. Still rising.
