Paul Ryan for House Minority Leader?

November 6, 2008 RSS Feed Print

There is word that Rep. Paul Ryan might make a play for the top job in the House. Ryan is a low-tax, small-government, pro-growth guy. He's also supersmart and understands the policies beneath those sometimes buzz words. There were rumors last summer  that he was under consideration by John McCain for veep. He could be the Newt Gingrich of the next conservative GOP revolution.

Time to get back to the basics. A fresh start with a smart, young, and true conservative is what the party needs.

Honestly, the GOP right now is not nearly conservative enough economically. It was their proposal to throw billions of dollars around with no regard for conservative ideology or the repercussions of the spending and ensuing deficits, which sounds more liberal than conservative to me. This man is a fresh face, and is just what the GOP needs right now. Whether or not he wants to be a leader is now the issue, as he is widely supported by any conservative that has ever looked at his voting record, including digressions from his party's vote, and he is a great opportunity for the GOP to both move toward progress and back to its conservative roots. He is smart, and charismatic, and would be a great minority leader in the house.
