Geithner Tops Odds for Next Treasury Secretary

November 15, 2008 RSS Feed Print

The lastest from Intrade: Geithner 45 percent, Summers 26 percent, Corzine 10 percent, Volcker 9 percent, Bair 8 percent. My darkhorse is Buffett at 5 percent. I'm just saying.  ... Let me also add that if Obama picks Hillary for Secretary of State, that might give him some room with liberals women's groups to pick Summers.

Us Economy

All products that are at least 80% manufactured in the US will be state sales tax free. (Including autos) This will promote more US jobs.

Housing

When you purchase a resale home (resale home only)…… Give the purchaser a 10% tax credit up to $25,000.

If no mortgage is needed the tax credit will given as a tax refund to the purchaser over 5 years.

If a mortgage is needed the $5000 can be used as part of their down payment to the bank. The Purchaser will still need at least 20% of their own money for the down payment….. This will give the banks a 30% equity stake right from the start. (lower mortgage rate with 30% down)

Autos

No monies will be given to the Auto industries unless:

Effective immediately the Unions will reduce their wage and benefit package that will compare with the average wage and benefits package of the other auto manufactures in the US.

Along with the made in the USA concession that all autos that are 80% made in the US will get a state sale tax relief. The auto industries can rebound very quickly.

Remember most of these union workers are non skilled. If we need to train new worker to run these plants it would not take long to start over.
