Obama's Wasteful Stimulus Plan

December 19, 2008 RSS Feed Print

$850 billion (with a bullet) for what, exactly? Alice Rivlin, a budget director under Bill Clinton, speaks truth to power, courtesy of the WaPo:

Rivlin said she would prefer quick approval of a much smaller [stimulus] package that contains only items that would rapidly push cash into the economy, such as aid to states and the poor and perhaps a payroll tax holiday. That could be followed, she said, by a larger spending package with investments thoughtfully crafted to achieve Obama's broader economic goals. "Mass transit, the high-tech stuff, investment in health IT. Those are all good ideas. But they aren't stimulus," Rivlin said.

There is sooo much "pork" in this stimulus bill that could be AVOIDED if you would just VETO it and let it go back to remove the BS so that the American people don't pay for this S---t at this time --- We all know that in the future we should/could want to help out those entities that need support for pig farms, grape farmers, etc.,etc., ect., But, NOW IN A TIME OF CONSIDERABLE CONCERN/CRISIS, the American people just want to have the MOST IMPORTANT matters taken care of -- not the smell of pigs (over used, but a very appropo example) things taken care of

We already have too much on our plates, we don't at this time need to include everything -- we just need to take care of workers, homeowners, etc., retired older investors --

Let's take care of this FIRST -- you will have more time, a later time to take care of this superfulous stuff later -- this is the time to take care of basic matters --

PLEASE VETO THIS PARTICULAR PROPOSAL OF THE STIMULUS PACKAGE AND TAKE OUT THE "STUPID STUFF" (THE AMERICAN POPULUS' FEELING OF IT) AND AT ANOTHER TIME INCLUDE WHATEVER ELSE YOU FEEL NEEDS TO BE DONE.

At this time we don't have to do the "blue plate special" -- we just have to take care of the basics -- and that isn't what is included in this bill.

PLEASE HEAR THE AVERAGE AMERCAN -- WE DON'T WANT/NEED THE BILL AS IT IS WRITTEN --

LET'S TAKE A DIET -- TAKE OUT THE PORK -- WE -- THE AMERCIAN PEOPLE -- JUST NEED THE "PORK" TO TAKE CARE OF OUR FAMILIES INSTEAD OF SOME FISH, WHALES, GRAPES, PIGS -- THE AMERICAN FAMILES NEED THIS PORK TO BE TAKEN OUT TO TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES AND NO ONE ELSE --- NOT EVEN ANOTHER COUNTRY AT THIS TIME --

LET'S FIX THIS FOR AMERICA --- NOW -- WE CAN LOOK TO THE FUTURE THAT YOU PROPOSE -- WHICH IS VERY INSIGHTFUL AND FORWARD THINKING -- RIGHT NOW -- WE JUST NEED TO FOCUS ON TODAY!!! FORWARD THINKING CAN COME A WHILE AHEAD

It is sickening. If you have worked your entire life, lived within your means , saved for the future and have been a generally law abiding Americal citizen, you just get slapped in the face by the goverment. They want to take more from you that you can give and shift your hard earned money to idiot wastful programs and to people who did not work, save or contribute to society in any way. How does this encougage the next generation to work hard for what they want and live within their means? I hope with all my heart that we (regular folks)can get together and start a powerful, viable 3rd political party that can get these wasteful , corrupt politicians out and people who actually want to serve our nation in.

Infrastructure jobs program- excellent idea!!! $200 to $1000 for individuals and couples? Sorry- that doesn't cut it at all!

That amount will get a dribble of money into the economy- that isn't enough! I believe the stimulus needs to include tax rollbacks for 401ks, a new housing program where the govt (through their new relationship with Fannie and Freddie) allow new mortgages for those facing foreclosure- these folks should be offerred a loan to pay the investor rate of 40% for their home to the bank and I DON"T EVEN CARE IF THAT MEANS THE BANK TAKES THE HIT- and that is a final hit- no recourse to the consumer. Ask why? Because the mortgagees are nice enough to even continue to participate in the economy!) The consumers of America should then be bailed out in the same percentages as Chrysler and GM- In the same percentages as the banks, as the pension funds, as the stockholders, as the credit card companies- heck, if Ben in DC can come up with a new group to throw money at every day, why has he never chosen the right group? He needs to take econ and finance 101- the fact remains corps spend more than they save overall, consumers save more than they spend overall- consumers and small businesses make up 2/3 of the economy- when consumers get-say-$10,000.00 a piece in stimulus, if they pay off debt- the economy wins; if they save it, the economy wins; if they spend it, the economy wins! How ridiculous that anyone would recommend such poverty level stimulus amounts to the ones who hold ALL the leverage to make or break this economy! The American consumer is the only answer!
