Mitt Romney: The Man with the Stimulus Plan

Back to blog

Mitt's ideas about encouraging the growth of the economy by cutting taxes (speciafically tax rates) are just following in the proven path taken by Calvin Coolidge, JFK and of course RR

However, you can go back to P-16 (Abe) and ask him about the private sector and growth versus government control

"You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves."

and "You cannot build character and courage by taking away a man's initiative and independence."

I thought the analysis of the plan was sound, but you guys commenting sound crazily anti-right wing. Just because it came from a Republican doesn't mean it can not be a good plan or that he's out to get you. If you read the plan, you wouldn't abase it as much.

Let's hope he does, David in MT. I've noticed over on gopshoppe dot-com they have the usual items for sale like Don't Blame Me, I Voted For McCain. However, they also have--and I think this is unprecedented--Don't Blame Me I Voted For ROMNEY gear! Now, I don't think a primary also-ran or runner-up has ever had that sort of recognition before. It's telling, though, of how savvy and sensible Republicans saw the candidate with the most potential get tag-teamed out of the race by a motley crew of culturalists and bigots, liberal republicans and crossparty meddlers and now have the ability to say 'I told you so' to not just Democrats but to others in our party as well. I've ordered two DON'T BLAME ME, I VOTED FOR ROMNEY magnets since, well, I voted for him in the primary and then, after a couple months of searching for a reason to vote for McCain, decided to just write him in the general election.

Of those who chose to run for President in 2008, Mitt Romney had the most knowledge and experience to run this country and solve our economic problems! Hands down!!!

Too many Republicans feared Mitt Romney's faith because they were mislead by the Huckabee croud! How sad, they should have feared a Democratically controlled Legislature and White House!

If you were one of "those" Republicans tell me how scared you are now! If we are lucky enough to have Mitt Romney run again you need to get ready now to get past your short-sighted religious bias!

If you need help, most Democrats are still laughing at how easy it was to help defeat Mitt Romney (their most serious challenger) by playing the religion card! To the Democrats we are a bunch of "uneducated Church goers!" Maybe we proved them right!?!

A "true" Republican should be about a less burdensome (cost less & more efficient) Government, more personal freedoms (including religious), a strong economy, and a strong military (to keep world peace if necessary)!!! If you insist on taking away Mitt Romney's freedom to believe in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints then it might only be a matter of time when our Government takes away YOUR religious freedom. Your right to pray in Public Schools etc. has already been taken away! Do you realize that you just helped that process along by helping to elect a Democratic White House and Legislature? Often our actions have unintended results!

Let the Republican Party and the Republican voters all get ready to elect Mitt Romney (if he'll run) in 2012!!!

Of course your points are correct, Kent, and ___ of FL's are either purely partisan or ignorant, or both, but I'd just like to add that, even if of FL's charge were true and applicable--about how his great success in business doesn't translate into knowledge of the economy--then, well, he did wipe out the state of Massachusetts $3Bn deficit without raising taxes while establishing the first healthcare system with a balanced budget each year of his term, ending in a surplus of about a half-billion dollars. That count for anything?

A Harvard MBA (with a simultaneous law degree cum laude) or a community organizer?

One person commented earlier that Romney's plan "gives to the rich...and don't build any infrastructure." Apparently he didn't read the part about investing in technology. FDR Dems think that the way out of trouble is to dump a boat load of money on roads and bridges. While that has its place, there is a more important infrastructure right now that needs developement, and that's the technological infrastructure. That will keep us on top AND make the greenies happy.

As for "giving to the rich," I don't really consider letting people keep their money "giving" it to them. It's like the homeless man who gets his meal for free and then gets mad when a restaurant gives a discount to someone who pays. Those who pay no taxes have little standing to complain about who gets tax cuts.

We cannot save money. Every time we try the government takes it. My husband was laid off so we used our savings to survive. Mind you, they took out taxes before we received the check. On top of that, we had to claim it as income and the IRS took another 30%. In the end the government took over half of our savings. Why are we penalized for saving? It's stupid. There should be no IRS. Increase sales tax 5% and everyone pays equally.

Do you realize how ridiculous your post was?...Just because he is a good manager and business person does not mean he knows anything about economics. What???

That's like saying,"He's a good businessman and has millions of dollars, but he doesn't know how to make money!"

C'mon of FL, why don't we use a little common sense here?

Personally, I have this strange notion that a man that has proved himself time and time again making failing companies solvent and successful "must" know a thing or two about finances and the economy and how to make our own country solvent and successful again. Call me an optimist, but I think Romney has the right stuff. It would be a disaster for the Republican party NOT to have this man as our leader in 4 more years.

But, I digress...he's Mormon so that officially makes him unworthy and too unskilled to lead. WHAT A BUNCH OF MORONS WE ARE as a conservative party to have actually listened to the likes of Huckabee and the like! We have NO ONE to blame but ourselves for the coming economic disaster.

Romney is just another big government Republican. Just because he is a good manager and business person does not mean he knows anything about economics. He would be a disaster for the Republicans.

"Tax the tarnation out of the rich and give to the poor" is the dictim that damns the incentive to make more money - but, oh . . . I forgot. That's precisely what you libs want - a camelot where no one can fall down and no one can rise up through his own potential.

The difference between those who actually know about money and those who are Democrats is - oh wait, I think I just answered it. Look at all of your past presidents: lawyers. Now look at the others - business owners.

Now I know why only landowners were allowed to vote in the old country. Those who manage things have a clue; those who have no experience will unilaterally vote away the coffers and the good china their way.

Someone tell me why - WHY should a person making two million a year have to pay a higher percentage than someone who makes two thousand a year. It can not be done logically, unless your answer is to support those who can not do for themselves.

I make less than fifty thousand dollars a year, and I understand the flat tax. I understand that nobody "owes" me for my lack of performance. This used to be an "eat-what -you-kill" society. Now it is a "multicultural" society with three subgroups: the dwindling population of selfish elites who have the audacity to be the most industrious and recieve compensation for such; the rising middle class, who are now composed of former elites that got the snot taxed out of them, as well as former poverty-stricken folks who now get some of the former elites' money; and the working class. Notice how we call the poor, the working class, but if they were really industious, they are suddenly not known as working class members anymore.

I know you guys truly want to give out of the generosity of your hearts to the needy. The true problem is that you want to give more than you have, so you are forcing it away disproportionately.

By the way, a "flip-flop" is when you go back and forth on an issue. For example, when Obama said that he would remove troops after sixteen months and then retracted it, but then reissued a plan of troop withdrawal. A "flip-flop" is when a person, let's take Obama for example, decides he is for guns in Washington DC, against guns, and then for them again. A simple "flip" is when someone like Obama says that he will not raise private funds for a campaign and then changes his mind once - or when, in 2004, he advocates drilling, but during this year's election, he is opposed. An example of not changing a position would include his approbation of partial-birth abortions, the teaching of alternate sexual lifestyles in sexual education starting in kindergarten, or his economic stance of lifting taxes to as much as sixty percent in coastal areas.

A "flip" can also be when someone like Mitt Romney denounces abortion, or when he comes to the decision that he advocates every child's right to a mother AND a father. I don't see the latter as poor "flips".

Merry Christmas & Bah Humbug!
