I think this is actualy very cool. Yellowstone earthquakes :) I am intrested in vulcaolagy, like, so MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure it is spelled volcanology not vulcanoloy, unless of course you are just interested in Star Trek.

Funny how many people who leave comments on this site are angry at the people who are fascinated with geology, vulcanology, natural sciences in general. Yes, everything is cyclical and something big is going to happen. I don't apologize for my interest in these areas and the people who want to preach on here need to go start a church and the people who can't spell.... PLEASE DON'T LEAVE COMMENTS.

Its funny that someone thinks that people who pay attention to the geological activity in the United States are morbidly curious. And yet, they are here on this site leaving comments. Ironic? I don't apologize for being fascinated with geology, vulcanology, and natural sciences in general. Hard to believe that someone who thinks we should be living back the way they did in 1850 would even use a computer. I think we should be prepared for, (no pun intended) the fallout if Yellowstone does blow.

I have been watching this site,(Recent earthquakes in California and nevada) for about 10 years now. The number of quakes for about the first 8 years stayed around 350 to 450 quakes per week,...trending steadily upward to (3/21/09),over 700 quakes per week. The interesting thing about the site is watching the dots (actually squares) connect. Same question,different day...,"When does the BIG one hit"? Part two of that question is ,"When California gets their 9.2,will this shake loose either the volcanoes,or other fualt zones in the western regions of the continent" ? Alaska concidered the most active quake region was only at 292 against Californias 701 ,today. Heck ,here in Nashville.Tennessee the streets were even shakeing..., Broadway shakes all of the time though...frigin great country music.

I knew everyone was jumping the gun on this one. It is all you people who when something really bad does happen, will be running around in circles in the middle of the streets screaming your heads off. Why the morbid curiosity? Please tell me you have something better to do than stay glued to your computer waiting for a volcano to explode. Leave the doomsday stuff for the scientist.

Wasn't there also a swarm of quakes in the last 1-2 months at higher latitudes (Washington or Montana)?
Is it possible that there is a connection?
The eruptions of yellowstone caldera have moved east and north over the millenia, and the other area seemed not that far east and north of yellowstone.

Well people,
Right now the whole planet seems to be going through lots of changes. I believe that these are cycles that repeat throughout history. The best way to deal with changes on planet earth is to be ready for events that are non-predictable. Not much we can do about what may or may not happen. I live on a fault line and expect that some day it might shake. If you look at volcanoes, earthquakes and solar readings -- you will see that there is lots of action around the planet. We are on a little ball blasting through space...anything could happen.
Not trying to preach....just suggesting that nothing is certain. Yellowstone is certainly a big one. I personally don't trust the predictions of science. They do their best, but it leaves alot to be desired. Technology is so young that there really isn't any way to be sure about anything.
Enjoy your life in the moment, ultimately none of us are getting out of this place alive. One thing is good about Yellowstone...I finally got off my butt and bought some extra supplies. Now I can't whine if anything happens.
