Traveling Through Soviet America

The London Times reports on an interesting economic study that looks at which parts of Great Britain have become overly dependent on government:

PARTS of the United Kingdom have become so heavily dependent on government spending that the private sector is generating less than a third of the regional economy, a new analysis has found.

The study of “Soviet Britain” has found the government’s share of output and expenditure has now surged to more than 60% in some areas of England and over 70% elsewhere.

Me: So which parts of the United States are "Soviet America."  Robert Reich does a pretty good job, at least, of outlining which industries qualify:

The federal government -- that is, you and I and every other taxpayer -- has taken ownership of giant home mortgagors Fannie and Freddie, which are by now basket cases. We've also put hundreds of millions into Wall Street banks, which are still flowing red ink and seem everyday to be in worse shape. We've bailed out the giant insurer AIG, which is failing. We've given GM and Chrysler the first installments of what are likely to turn into big bailouts. It's hard to find anyone who will place a big bet on the future of these two.

Put it all together and at this rate, the government -- that is, taxpayers -- will own much of the housing, auto, and financial sectors of the economy, those sectors that are failing fastest.

Consider too that the government already finances much of the aerospace industry, which is still doing reasonably well but depends on a foreign policy that itself has been a dismal failure. And a large portion of the pharmaceutical industry and health care sector (through the Medicare and Medicaid, the Medicare drug benefit, and support of basic research). These are in bad shape as well, and it seems likely the Obama administration will try to reorganize much of them.

What's left? Most of high-tech, entertainment, hospitality, retail, and commodities. So far, at least, we taxpayers are not propping them up. And when the economy turns up -- perhaps as soon as next year, most likely later -- these sectors have a good chance of rebounding.

Ok...soon they will be scrapping the constitution and replacing it with Marx' manifesto. When that happens there will be no more economy nor any currency at all. All will be totally dependent on government. We will totally be "soviet" and the Dems and their "Obama" messiah will have their victory. No banks, no retail, no nothing. Cars and housing will be allotted by the government as well as any jobs. The private sector will no longer exist and those in the "proletariat" will be told/assigned their job and where they will be "allowed" to be living. Permits for travel between what USED to be states will be given at the governments' sole discretion. Amerika will then be divided into sectors such as the North Eastern, Southeastern, Northwestern and Southwestern sectors.

All food and clothing and basic neccessities of life will be allotted by government thru their distribution centers. "Scrip" will be allotted per family or household for these items at first then will be scrapped. Every citizen will be "issued" their monthly allotment which will be signed for at each visit to the distribution center. Public transport will be free but travel permits will be checked before being allowed to travel whether by government allotted car, public train or public airways. The same goes for any health care, which must be applied for in advance and permission to see a doctor will be granted by a government official.

Any "rights" that the bill of rights previously gave are now considered "priveleges" that the government can revoke at it's sole discretion. Alledged "rights" such as the right to bear arms is now revoked. Any/All guns, weapons and ammunition is to be turned in to the local military police station. Failure to do so will be considered by the central government as an act of disobedience or war and will be swiftly delt with by force. Anyone after a certain date caught with any kind of firearm will be summarilly put to death by firing squad by the new military arm of "Homeland Security".

Churches or any kind of "religious speech" is hereby banned and illegal. All church buildings will hereby be closed and re-opened as schools, museums or detention centers. Any/all religious books or materials such as Bibles,Hindu books, Buddist books, Koran, etc. are also hereby illegal. Posession of such materials are hereby considered a felony by the state and any such possession is considered an act of treason by the state punishable by life in prison or execution.
