Is the Center Killing Obama's Stimulus Plan?

Blame Nancy Pelosi and the extreme far left of the Democratic party. If they had only taken the time in the House to get things right and fiscally responsible by getting input from the New Democrats, the Blue Dogs, and the Republicans, maybe it would be better for our country. The bill is appalling and has a hidden healthcare agenda that has nothing to do with stimulating our economy. His endorsement of this abomination may demonstrate what Obama's true color is. We need a stimulus with the right spending and tax cuts, this Obama plan will fail our economy and fail America. And while I appreciate Senator Collins' and Senator Nelson's efforts to try to clean this thing up, it is still excessive in its spending and the role that it could be permanently be giving to our ever expansive federal government. All this talk about failed small government policies from the Bush administration is pure deception. The presidency of George W. Bush saw the largest expansion of federal power and spending since perhaps LBJ. Obama seems to be bringing us more of the same --- and worse.

As for Paul Krugman, I guess one good thing about Obama is that he is refraining from the excess this guy is promoting. Remember, he won the Nobel prize for research in trade theory & trade patterns not for being a liberal hack on the editorial page of the New York times.

Pork-o-nomics can fool some of the people all of the time. The Pelosi pork bill is morbidly obese and in danger of being exposed by Rush and others. Better get it passed quickly.

""Lots of spending on traditional Democratic agenda items, somewhat less so a "green New Deal," and tax cuts that were really just another kind of spending. And the whole thing just never seemed very stimulating. Imagine, though, had the plan consisted of a payroll tax cuts, cuts in corporate and capital gains taxes, loans to states and local governments, and energy investment items. Something like that might have done the trick ...""

You can only give Tax Cuts to those that pay their taxes, or actually have a job and pay taxes.

However, this is not the time to have any sort of Party Lines. This is a time for America.

Question: Does Krugman's economics inform his politics or vice versa?

This is a bad bill, period

The stimulus package the U.S. Congress is completing would raise the government’s commitment to solving the financial crisis to $9.7 trillion, enough to pay off more than 90 percent of the nation’s home mortgages.

Stop the "Takeover of America Bill"
