Even if the cost is 3.3 trillion, that is approximately the cost of invading Iraq when you include the follow up costs of caring for wounded vets. Which one represents the best investment?

this is america where you can express your opinion with out retrubution. the types of big business propaganda and republican pundent comments against a man elected by the people to lead in any other country would be seen as they truly are- tratorous acts. these well funded efforts to undermine and demonise these democraticly elected officers because they are trying to even the playing field between the wealthy and the working class should be condemed by the honorable people who call themselves a citizen of these united states of america.

Obamas' PORK SPENDING PLAN is NOT a stimulus plan at all.

It is a reward for all of the LIBERALS that put him into office.

It is a Christmas dream list come true for these liberals in waiting.

God help this country as OHBAMA is killing us with his socialism.

And why doesn't US News question Reid and Pelosi on why they excluded E-Verify (which verifies legal work eligibility) from the stimulus spending plan? As the Heritage Foundation outlines, without E-Verify, 300,000 jobs created with OUR (citizen) tax dollars will go to illegal immigrants, and not legal U.S. workers?!

Then President Bush trying to work with the Dems by continuing the policy, but now it's all Bush's fault?? They are both to blame. You don't get something for nothing in this world.

"concerned reader of Pethmeth", you need to go read the writing from FDR's Secretary of the Treasury about the effects all their spending did for the American people. It's been proven over and over that tax cuts work, but it has never been proven that spending does anything more than causing inflation.

The “gang of three” — liberal Republican Sens. Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe, and Susan Collins — who handed President Obama the stimulus bill he so desperately needed, apparently sacrificed billions in tax cuts during final negotiations over the measure in order to reduce its cost.

Though Republicans who crossed party lines apparently got rewarded. The New York Times reported Thursday that Sen. Specter got $6.5 billion for medical research. The Senator is ailing from cancer. Questions is what did the other two SELL OUT for?

All three should be removed from the Republican Party, one for not supporting the Conservative Republican values and second for doing a smoke filled room deal for their benefit, not the American public.

If it speeds recovery.

After all, the policies of the previous 8 years not only spent surplusses as far as the eye could see, but spent and additional 10 trillion--and for what?

Leaving us very depressed indeed!

That Obama will try MANY things and some of them will work.

A report on TV this morning says that they might try using taxpayer dollars to subsidize some mortgage PAYMENTS for those facing forclosure.

Imagine if we'd have been smart enough to do that 6 months ago. Payments being made?

No foreclosures and related drop of all other home values. No "worthlessness" of the mortage bonds. No broke Lehman. No broke Fannie/Freddie. No broke banks. Stability at A FRACTION of the cost now being endured.

Relax, Obama-haters, he is not going to kill your economy. He might fix it.

I'll ask my grandkids if I'm still alive in 30 years. After all they are the ones that will b paying for it.

Since GM dos not hav to pay their 10 billion in taxes this year, can normal Americans skip paying taxes also?

And what if you take the "Bush" tax cuts and extrapolate them or

The Iraq War or

Your yearned for payroll tax cuts or

Eliminating cap gains or

Greatly reducing business tax cuts or etc...
