Why Jon Stewart Really Attacked Jim Cramer

you'll have to forgive us if we don't "don't believe in the long-run soundness of the American economy". I wonder what world you're living in?

James, nice to hear one dissenting opinion on the common consensus that Stewart fairly gutted Cramer (he did), but you're firing a complete blank here. Stewart's point was that CNBC endoreses a get-rich scheme where supposedly only suckers work for a living, smart people watch Fast Money and attempt to day-trade on some loudmouth's banter.

At another point in the interview, Stewart talks about the strength of long-run investments over the short-term buy-sell-buy-sell that CNBC endoreses. That's how you show faith in the economy in the long run, with long-run investments, not silly gimmicks.

Work, yes. Invest, yes. Try to play the market like the game we all lost play money in in middle school? That's just one of the many reasons we're in a pit.

I actually like Cramer. I think he was the wrong guy to hoist on a petard. But I do not believe last night had much to do at all with Stewart being an anti-capitalist thug. This is my take.

Pethokoukis, what a wimp you are! You feel so put down by Stewart's obvious truth that you have to invent meaning which is not there. If that's the best you can do, go work for CNBC. They love mindless idiots.
