Open It's handles also have a razor knife and screwdiver.

Here's one of the more outrageous products that I've seen at tech shows: the Open It ($11) package opener. It isn't the product itself but the need for it that's contemptible: that we'd need a gadget to protect us from the packaging on other products.

Way too much electronic gear comes in those despicable clamshell blister packs. Marketers say the plastic displays well and discourages theft. But we've all cut our hands from trying to rip them open, even cautiously with scissors.

The Open It offsets its clippers to help protect your vulnerable flesh. The makers call it "Wrap Rage." Indeed.

There is absolutely no question the Open It! can handle a clamshell like a dull knife slicing through warm butter. I think it is in the multitude of other crazy jobs I throw it's way, where the tool really out-performs itself. As a Designing Woman I never imagined that I would have an Open It! as a permanent player in my gardening roster, yet when other tools get dull and disappointing, this baby really gets the job done. The glovebox is another shocking spot that I stash a tool for those "emergencies" that occur on road trips...like the kids hand held games with dead batteries 15 minutes into a 10 hour car ride. It is in the every day zaniness that life seems to kick out that I find myself using the Open It! Good thing it now comes in so many cool colors!

This tool is not one that only makes an appearance on the days we're trying to fight our way through that nasty plastic clamshell, but one that we use on a daily basis! It's a wonderful gadget that gets those constant day-to-day tasks around the house done in a much easier, quicker fashion. As a proud member of the Designing Women group, I am always recommending it to my friends and family. No house should be without it!

"Open It!" is great! Living in a house of technical savvy individuals who wanted all the latest software and technology, I was forever trying to help open those pesky clamshells. When our "Designing Women" group took on this problem, the solution made life much simpler. In fact, the first time we met about this problem, and the solution, I was wearing a bandaid from a bout of "Wrap Rage". I never thought that when a clamshell entered the house that I would be the first to say "I'll open it, no problem". I would recommend that anyone who has ever wished there were an easier way - try this. As one of the women that helped design this tool I know you will be glad you did.
