Speaking of ad-supported content, a U.K. music site got a breakthrough the other day in a deal with Sony BMG. We7, cofounded by Peter Gabriel, will stream Sony's music with a short ad at the start. The site digitalmusicnews.com reports that the pact is a rare endorsement by a major record studio of "seems-like-free, ad-supported content."

The deal is only for U.K. users. But we can hope that U.S. studios take note.
