Read your brief article with interest. I own a Power Computing PowerTower Pro Mac clone from 1997 & it's still goin; strong. Obsolete compared to today's computers, yes. But it's been upgraded to a 1Ghz G4 with 1 GB of RAM that has firewire & USB and a newer CD burner, so it's still serviceable for lots of everyday computing tasks. Pretty amazing considering the thing is 11 years old!

So if I buy one of these (which I already have) and cannot upgrade it at some point; I still have a $624 mac with the most recent OS.

My friends have hacked I-phones with non apple apps that run fine too. I guess I am an outlaw huh!
