I was wondering if anybody had any information regarding a class action suit against Toshiba and Microsoft? Yes these were Free HD-DVDs. But it was part of there advertisement to get you to purchase there product. I recently received my DVD's. I got 1 of my 5. The 4 other movies consisted of Bourne Identity which I already had, and 3 others I have no interest in. All 4 are not even on the list as options. This is a serous hit to Toshiba's reputation. I invested in a product and supported it by buying other movies. They should have at least been responsible enough to contact customers via email, which they provided on the rebate form, and inform them they are running low on product. These are your available options you have 48 hrs to respond.

I believe the saying goes a good experience a consumer tell 1 person, a bad experience they tell 20! I have a Toshiba laptop, my brother was considering one for college, I could no longer recommend their product name. I told him of my experience, he bought a Dell laptop.

I original bought my Toshiba HD-DVD player through Amazon; when the announcement came through about Toshiba bailing on the HD-DVD format they offered me a $50 discount/credit on my future purchases. This is a considerate and respectable action and it is deeply appreciated.

Thats the way to handle the situation. I am not expecting a refund but this was handled terrible, then made worse by the way they handled the DVD shortages.

I'm stupid and put a PO Box down the first time, but got a letter back within 2 weeks saying they needed a new address. I updated that and I'm still waiting.

No biggie thought. With places like www.half.com having 4-5 dollar HD DVD's, I've just been buying stuff there.

You are lucky to get a card from Toshiba. I have sent the official rebate form to two different addresses and they were returned BOX CLOSED. Does anyone have an address where the rebate form can be sent?

Has anyone filed a class action suit that I can join or has anyone gotten the Federal Trade Commission involved? Toshiba should be heavily fined for deceptive practices.

Toshiba products are out of my future forever.

The HD-DVD format is dead. So, you wait. Complaining about it is like complaining that the horse that died half way trough the race didn't finish. Not a lot you can do about it. And if the format is dead, what incentive do these companies have to send you ANY titles in that format? And you complain? It's FREE and you complain? It may have been wiser to have waited (as I am still doing) for the formats to settle in, the prices to come down, and the media to mature a bit before taking the unnecessarily expensive plunge into Hi-Def. For me, plain, old-fashioned (as if an 8 year old format is 'old fashioned' considering VHS ruled for 20 years) DVD's work great, the players are very inexpensive, the format is mature and I get great mileage from them. I am all for technological advances, but this one was like a 2 year labor and what was delivered is still in Intensive Care working out the new marketing strategy. Let me know when they've got the baby in day care. Then I'll take a look at the format. In the meantime, I suggest you hold services for your poor, dead format and get over your disappointment. I was rooting for HD-DVD. It didn't happen. I got over it.

Actually the biggest insult is that, you likley won't get many of the titles you actually asked for. Instead, you'll likely get other titles that you either already have and/or don't want. I got 2 of the 5 I ordered, and 3 replacements - 2 of which I had absolutely no interest in.
